Welcome to Islam. The first weeks can feel both joyful and overwhelming. The key is to go gently — one step at a time. Here's a roadmap to make your first month manageable.
Week 1: Foundations
Focus on the basics of belief — the meaning of the shahada and the six articles of faith. Don't rush to do everything; understanding comes gradually.
Week 2: Learning to pray
Begin learning wudu and the five daily prayers, step by step. It's normal to use notes at first. Praying — even imperfectly — is far better than waiting until it's perfect.
Week 3: Beginning the Quran
- Start learning to read with Noorani Qaida;
- Learn the meaning of short Surahs you'll use in prayer;
- Keep a simple daily routine;
- Be patient with yourself.
Week 4: Building support
Connect with a teacher and community. Having someone to answer questions without judgment makes everything easier — this is exactly what a dedicated revert course provides.
Above all, be kind to yourself
Islam is a journey, not a sprint. Celebrate small steps, ask questions freely, and trust that consistency will carry you far.
